A mini exhibition at the National Civil War Centre is now on display, offering an insight into food and drink preparation through the decades. Celebrating the display’s location, in the foyer between the museum and Café Nineteen20, the objects all have a catering theme and evoke memories and images of kitchens over the past 100 years.

As part of their work to support the local economy Newark and Sherwood District Council are offering free tailored business support sessions aimed at helping local businesses grow and thrive.

We know that Southwell Leisure Centre and the closure of its pool has been important for residents and we want to keep you informed of the current position. Our Leader, Councillor Paul Peacock, has provided the following statement. 

2025 marks 400 years since King Charles I's accession to the throne and the National Civil War Centre is marking the anniversary with some special events in its newly released talks programme.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who can’t believe how quickly time passes every year. To be celebrating 2024 and looking ahead to 2025 seems almost unbelievable but as I do so, I am proud of what Newark and Sherwood District Council has achieved over the last year and am excited about what is coming to our district in the year ahead too. 

The spirit of Christmas is all about giving so once your Christmas tree has finished providing joy in your home, why not give back to the environment by recycling it! Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme is back for another year and residents can book a collection now.
