We know that Southwell Leisure Centre and the closure of its pool has been important for residents and we want to keep you informed of the current position. Our Leader, Councillor Paul Peacock, has provided the following statement.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who can’t believe how quickly time passes every year. To be celebrating 2024 and looking ahead to 2025 seems almost unbelievable but as I do so, I am proud of what Newark and Sherwood District Council has achieved over the last year and am excited about what is coming to our district in the year ahead too. 

The spirit of Christmas is all about giving so once your Christmas tree has finished providing joy in your home, why not give back to the environment by recycling it! Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme is back for another year and residents can book a collection now.

Newark and Sherwood District Council has committed to doing even more to tackle domestic abuse and provide extra support to survivors of abuse.

Newark and Sherwood District Council have issued a Temporary Stop Notice (TSN) on the Cameron Homes development site at The Vineries, Kirklington Road, Southwell effective immediately (since Tuesday 17 December). This action comes after numerous planning conditions were found to be non-compliant, despite repeated efforts to resolve these issues through dialogue between the developer and District Council.

A Living Well booklet has been created by Newark and Sherwood District Council to act as a central place for important information available for residents who are looking for support and advice on a range of topics.

The generosity of Newark and Sherwood residents has meant that over 300 local people in need will be opening presents on Christmas morning.
