District Council Teams Up to Crack Down on Fly-Tipping

Over the past month, Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Environmental Protection, Community Protection and Licensing Officers have taken part in two successful multiagency operations, cracking down on rogue traders carrying waste without the correct documents.

District Council grant scheme is supporting the younger generation

Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Community Grant Scheme has been able to support a wide range of programmes and projects across the district including the Newark Amateur Boxing Club (NABC) who are able to provide boxing sessions to young people at risk of exclusion and/or anti-social behaviour. The sessions will help young people channel their energy into something positive and healthy whilst teaching them about self-discipline, confidence and work ethic.

District Council Reaches Out To Gen Z With Tongue-in-Cheek Recycling Video

This Recycle Week, Newark and Sherwood District Council has set its sights on communicating the importance of recycling to young people in the Gen Z demographic. Taking advantage of the ‘Gen Z writes the script’ social media trend, they have produced a short video starring officers from across their waste and recycling teams, using slang associated with Gen Z to talk about how, what and why to recycle.

National Civil War Centre Wins Family Friendly Museum Award

The National Civil War Centre in Newark has won Best Small Museum at the prestigious Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museum Awards 2024. Learning and Participation Manager Denise Greany, along with Learning and Participation Officers Donna Hall and Lucy Armstrong, were presented with the award at a ceremony held at Craven Museum in Skipton, last year’s overall winner, on Tuesday 8 October.
