District Council launches another round of the Business Support Programme

Business owners across Newark and Sherwood can receive support and advice on how to grow their businesses by taking part in the District Council’s Business Support Programme. Delivered in partnership with The Consulting Room, the Programme will take place over 16 weeks and will provide business owners with knowledge and support on how to grow their business.

Artists Sought to Help Bring BookBench Buzz to Newark

Ten brightly decorated benches will adorn Newark this summer and local artists are now being offered the chance to design them. Newark Creates have partnered with Wild in Art, the organisation behind the Lincoln Imp Trail and the Shaun the Sheep sculptures at Clumber Park, to produce the BookBenches and they’re now on the lookout for ten artists to give them their own colourful and unique flair.

District Council announces its plans to encourage more empty homes back into use.

Newark and Sherwood District Council’s cabinet has passed proposals to widen the scope of the Empty Homes Council Tax Premium to include homes left empty for more than 12 months. This premium was originally introduced for homes that had been unoccupied for two or more years, to encourage property owners to empty homes back into use.

Holocaust Memorial Day to be marked by the laying of wreaths at the Irena Sendler Statue in Newark

Saturday 27 January is Holocaust Memorial Day in the UK, it is the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in 1945. To mark this poignant day, when communities can get together to remember all victims of genocide, Newark and Sherwood District Council will be hosting a wreath laying at the statue of Irena Sendler alongside the Polish Consulate and Newark Town Council.
