District Council continues to deliver support to flooded communities

Work continues to support local communities suffering the effects of Storm Henk. Newark and Sherwood District Council officers are out in some of the worst-affected areas today with teams visiting homes on Kelham Road and Carlton Ferry Lane as well as the villages of Gunthorpe, Lowdham and Collingham.

Urgent flooding update from Newark and Sherwood District Council

Although flood waters are subsiding in various locations around the district, we are now aware that there are significant flooding risks to properties as a result of rising water levels at the Torksey Gauge. The levels have reached a point at this Gauge where it will impact our communities in the north-west of the district.

Council urges residents to stay safe during widespread flooding

Newark and Sherwood District Council is encouraging residents to stay safe during the severe flooding caused by Storm Henk. It is urging residents not to travel unless absolutely necessary and has set up a place of safety for anyone whose home is flooded or at risk of flooding. Information and advice has been provided in the Breaking News section of its website and support, advice and information are available by calling the District Council on 01636 650000.

Joy shared through Palace gift donations

With the kindness of local people, the Palace Theatre Newark has been able to spread some extra Christmas joy this year. Not just through their spectacular pantomime Snow White, but through Palace Presents, a gift donation scheme initially set up in 2020.
