Newark and Sherwood District Council is cracking down on vandalism and anti-social behaviour following a spate of incidents at parks across the district and is asking residents for their help protecting our much-loved parks.

Through Newark and Sherwood District Council’s allocation of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Newark R&M Cricket Club has been awarded funding of £100,000 to help them achieve their £450,000 plans for site improvements.

A new 80-space car park has opened at Newark Hospital, bringing immediate benefits to patients, visitors and staff.

Newark and Sherwood District Council appointed a new Chair and Vice-Chair during the Annual Council meeting on Tuesday 21 May. Nominations were invited for the Chair by Councillor Celia Brooks as her final duty as Chair.  Councillor Jean Hall was nominated by Councillor Rowan Cozens, Deputy Leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council and seconded by Councillor Susan Crosby. She was then elected unanimously by council members. She will remain in office for the coming year.

The Chair of Newark and Sherwood District Council, Councillor Celia Brooks, presented a cheque to her chosen charity, Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, a critical service providing emergency medical transportation across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.

On Monday 13 May, Newark and Sherwood District Council hosted its very first meeting with the sole purpose of celebrating and promoting the benefits music can offer our community. Over 70 people attended and Councillor Rowan Cozens, Deputy Leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council and Portfolio Holder for Heritage, Culture and the Arts chaired this important inaugural meeting.
