Intake Wood FAQs (maintenance and historical actions)
What maintenance work has the Council done in the last 30 years? Surely if it was being regularly checked this work wouldn’t be needed?
Work has been done at various stages. However, the existing plantation is reaching maturity and is at an age when trees can start to fail. As such felling and thinning works are required.
What will the site look like in the end?
The woodland is currently a mature plantation of non-native trees (Corsican Pine). We are transitioning to broadleaf woodland which is typical of the ancient Sherwood Forest landscape.
