Intake Wood FAQs (impact on residents and community)

I’m a resident who lives on the back of the tall pines and my insurance company isn’t happy about the safety of the trees. Why aren’t they being removed?

The original plan was to remove all of the pine trees neighbouring houses. However, due to the strength of public feeling about the scale of the works we have decided that we monitor them individually and regularly and remove when we need to.

Because of the trees being cut down we now hear road traffic and see the road, was this considered in the plans?

A buffer of trees was retained on the roadside to ensure there is a screen from the highway. The felled area will be replanted with a mix of native trees.

Will the footpaths be opened up?

Restoration works will be conducted on the footpaths and trails and felled areas will be replanted with a native tree mix. These replacement trees have deeper roots than the Corsican Pine and will make the site safer for the neighbouring homes and the replacement species provide a better habitat for our native wildlife.
