Visitors to Newark’s town centre will soon be taken back to the early 20th century as two Grade II listed buildings are to be transformed thanks to funding from Historic England and Newark and Sherwood District Council.

The Great British Spring Clean returns to Newark and Sherwood this Friday, and the District Council’s jam-packed schedule of activities begins!

A fantastic programme of events for 2023 taking place in Newark Town Centre has been confirmed, promising a year of exciting events for residents and visitors alike to enjoy.

For most people in Newark and Sherwood, your Council Tax is made up of five main parts. The main bulk, 73.2%, is set by Nottinghamshire County Council and it has set its increase for 2023 – 2024 at 4.84%.

The Sustainability in Business workshop, held at Hexgreave Hall on 28 February and organised by Newark and Sherwood District Council, provided expert insight into the positive effects sustainability can have on local businesses.

The Safer Streets project continues to improve safety and security in the district as new intercom systems are installed in residential council properties in Newark.

The legacy of a 17th century Mayor of Newark is being honoured this month with a day encouraging foodbank donations at the town’s National Civil War Centre. In a drive led by re-enactment group Colonel Robert Overton’s Regiment of Foote, anyone bringing a foodbank donation to the Centre on Saturday 11th March will receive free entry, enjoying fascinating galleries, fun interactives and games and the chance to meet the re-enactors in full Civil War costume.

Newark and Sherwood District Council is holding a consultation and engagement event to give Bilsthorpe residents the opportunity to voice their opinion on what facilities are of value to them as a community and what else might be needed.
