Prisoner discounts and exemptions
People who are in prison are not counted when we're calculating Council Tax bills. The following discounts are available if you or anyone you normally live with is in prison or on remand:
- 25% discount is awarded if the property still has an adult resident
- 100% exemption is awarded if the property is left unoccupied
If you believe you are eligible, contact us so we can send an application form to the relevant prison.
