Section 13A of the Local Government Finance Act allows us to provide a short-term, discretionary Council Tax reduction in the event of exceptional circumstances.
Before applying, you must be able to demonstrate you have taken all reasonable steps to resolve the problems that are causing you to apply for the reduction.
How to apply
Applications should be made via post or email and should include the following information:
- a detailed explanation giving the reasons for the application
- confirmation of the amount of discount being requested
- a full breakdown of all household income and expenditure
- a copy of the last 3 months bank statements
- evidence of any other debts and contractual payments
- an explanation of the steps you have already taken to resolve your financial difficulties
- details of any substantial assets owned by you our your partner
