Taxi licences

To apply for a vehicle licence, download and complete the vehicle application form (PDF, 851kb) and send it to us using the details at the bottom of this page.

On the form you will need to state whether your vehicle is a 'Private Hire Vehicle' or a 'Hackney Carriage'. Hackney carriages can be 'flagged down' off the street or on a rank whereas private hire vehicles must be pre-booked through an operator.

Supporting documents

Along with the application form, you will need to send 

• the vehicles MOT certificate
• its V5 Document
• proof that the vehicle is insured

Vehicle inspections

All licensed vehicles are required to undergo an initial inspection and then inspections every 6 months. You will need to arrange these inspections yourself.
