The Palace Theatre Newark is getting ready to welcome a huge West End production to its stage this month. Bill Kenwright Ltd.’s national tour of Blood Brothers will be visiting their stage from Tuesday 22 to Saturday 26 October and there are just a handful of tickets left for each performance.

Work is now underway at Vicar Water Country Park to improve the flow of the river as well as its ecology. Regular visitors to the stunning country park, managed by Newark and Sherwood District Council, may have noticed the works taking place around the river and the signage around them. These are all part of The 3 Rivers Restoration project, a partnership between Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and Severn Trent.

The Palace Theatre has awarded its latest Our Past Your Future Fund grants to four local young people pursuing a career in the arts.

Following the resounding success of their BookBench Sculpture Trail in Newark town centre, Newark Creates is delighted to announce the permanent locations for these cherished works of art. The trail, which ran from 11 July to 11 September, captivated residents and visitors alike, showcasing the creativity and talent of 11 artists and community groups, in collaboration with Wild in Art.

Newark Market Place will play host to a stunning large scale projected film on Friday 1 November as the Town Hall is illuminated with a fantastic animated tale.

On Tuesday 25 September, Newark and Sherwood District Council joined together with Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service to host educational sessions at John Hunt Primary School in Balderton dedicated to water safety.

Newark and Sherwood District Council has today launched the second round of its popular Community Grant Scheme, which gives community groups and charities from across the district the chance to apply for up to £20,000 to help deliver projects that will improve the lives of residents.

The event honoured incredible individuals who have gone above and beyond to support the community and champion the growth of sports.

To assist more disabled residents with essential home modifications and adaptations that improve their quality of life, Newark and Sherwood District Council have raised their Discretionary Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) to £30,000 and their Minor Works Grant to £10,000.
