Families across Newark and Sherwood are in for a treat this October Half Term, with a vibrant line-up of activities and events at the National Civil War Centre and Palace Theatre Newark. From amazing museum trails to thrilling live performances, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Each year we send annual registration forms to every household in the district so that we know who is eligible to vote. These were sent in August and it’s important everyone responds.

A public engagement exercise with over 11,000 responses has found that people favour a North – South split when it comes to re-organising Local Government in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
The Newark and Sherwood Community and Sports Awards 2025, organised by Newark and Sherwood District Council in partnership with Radio Newark, concluded with resounding success on Friday 26 September at The Renaissance at Kelham Hall in Newark. The event honoured incredible individuals who have gone above and beyond to support the community and champion the growth of sports.
This summer, Newark and Sherwood District Council delivered a vibrant programme of activities designed to inspire healthier lifestyles, build community connections and equip young people with valuable life skills.
20 community groups across Newark and Sherwood have received vital funding through the District Council’s Community Grant Scheme, enabling them to deliver impactful projects that support wellbeing, inclusion, and opportunity for residents.
Significant progress is being made on the transformation of the former M&S building at 32 Stodman Street. The development is one of Newark and Sherwood District Council and Newark Town Board’s flagship projects, hoping to breathe new life into the town. The project has been supported by the Towns Deal, now integrated within the UK Government’s ‘Local Regeneration Fund.’
An exciting new multipurpose community classroom is now open at Sconce and Devon Park, through £24,000 grant funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Newark and Sherwood District Council has provided funding to secure new competition level starting blocks for the main pool at Newark Sports and Fitness Centre which will enable Newark Swimming Club to further enhance its training environments.
