Information on using caddy liners
Do I need to use a liner in my food waste caddy, and if so, what type can I use?
You do not need to use a liner in your food waste caddy. If you prefer, you can place food waste directly into the caddy. However, we recommend using a liner to help keep the caddy clean.
As part of the food waste trial, some households will be provided with an initial supply of compostable caddy liners, while others will not receive liners. If you are not provided with liners, you can still take part in the trial and may choose to purchase compostable liners from many supermarkets and retailers.
You can also reuse suitable plastic bags, such as bread bags, frozen food bags, carrier bags and small bags from everyday household items, to line your food waste caddy.
If you use all the liners provided, you can buy replacement compostable liners or continue to use suitable reused plastic bags.
Do both the indoor and outdoor caddies need a liner?
You are welcome to use liners on both your indoor and outdoor caddies. You can buy compostable liners for both of your caddies at many retailers and supermarkets. All we ask is that you tie the liner closed in your outdoor caddy on your collection day.
