Newark and Sherwood District Council has concluded a heartfelt Volunteers’ Thank You Week (2-8 June 2025), celebrating the incredible individuals and groups who give their time and energy to support our communities.

The Government has issued its feedback on Nottingham and Nottinghamshire’s joint interim Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) plan.

Residents across Newark and Sherwood are being encouraged to take part in a fun and rewarding litter-picking and recycling initiative during Great Big Green Week, running from 7 to 15 June 2025.

Newark and Sherwood District Council is proud to announce its first-ever Apprentice Open Day, taking place on Friday 27 June at Castle House. This exciting new event is designed to inspire and inform those starting their career or looking at a potential change about the wide range of apprenticeship opportunities available within the Council.

Local businesses are invited to take part in a transformative morning workshop designed to elevate their brand, boost confidence, and refine their marketing approach. Organised by Newark and Sherwood District Council, the Mindset and Messaging Masterclass will be held on Wednesday 9th July, from 9am to 12pm at the Aura Business Centre in Newark.

A rare and puzzling Roman object is now back on display at the National Civil War Centre in Newark. Known as the Norton Disney Dodecahedron, the 12-sided, hollow copper alloy object has fascinated archaeologists and visitors alike with its unknown purpose and striking craftsmanship.

Latest update as of 30 May 2025: On 9 May 2025, we provided an update in relation to development activity in Balderton.  A copy of this is available below. Since then, we have received a planning application from the occupiers on the site. The planning reference number is 25/00805/FULM and the application can be found on our website. Members of the public are now able to comment and engage with the planning process and comments can be submitted on our website using the application link.  All planning applications are considered on an individual basis and in line with local and national planning policy.
