Street naming and numbering policy and fees
You should contact us if you:
- want to add a name or rename your existing property
- are undertaking conversion of residential, commercial or industrial premises, which will result in the creation of new properties or premises or renaming of old properties
- are planning to build a single property or small development
- are a developer planning a new housing or commercial development

Street naming and numbering fees
Fees apply if you:
- are amending your address
- are requesting a change to an approved street naming scheme
- require written confirmation of a postal address

| Amendment to approved naming and numbering scheme due to change in approved street name (after consultation), including notification. | £110 admin fee plus £38 per property for up to 10 properties. £18.50 for every additional property thereafter. |
| Rename or numbering of street including notification. | £110 admin fee plus £38 per property for up to 10 properties affected by change. £18.50 for every additional property thereafter affected by change. |
| Resubmission of renaming or numbering of street including notification following objection. | No charge. |
| Providing written confirmation of a single postal address. | £31 |
Terms and conditions:
- all requests must be completed on the appropriate form which is available on our website
- all fees must be paid prior to our notification and/or written confirmation being issued
- should the requestor only wish to be issued with new street names and numbers, this service is provided free of charge
- postal codes remain the responsibility of Royal Mail
- Newark and Sherwood District Council can only issue street naming and numbering schemes contained within the district boundary
- all street naming and numbering schemes will be issued in accordance with Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Street Naming and Numbering Guidance 2021 document (see above)’
- any queries or complaints should be directed through the corporate customer feedback procedure
* Includes naming of a building and all affected properties (for example, a block of flats).
