Free to attend and running from 9.00am to 3.00pm, the conference will bring together local businesses, partners and industry experts for a day of insight, inspiration and practical support focused on overcoming challenges and unlocking growth across the district.

This year’s theme, Overcoming Barriers, Building Connections and Unlocking Inclusive Growth, will explore how businesses can navigate uncertainty, access support, and build the strong networks needed to thrive. The event will feature a mix of keynote talks, interactive workshops and networking opportunities designed to equip attendees with valuable tools and fresh perspectives.

The keynote speaker for this year’s conference is Kirsty Hulse, an award-winning motivational speaker and entrepreneur. Kirsty founded her first company at just 26, achieving nearly $1 million in turnover in its first year, and has since delivered training programmes for some of the world’s biggest companies, helping over 40,000 people improve their confidence. Her talk will blend psychology, humour and real-world experience, offering insight into ‘practical optimism’, staying motivated without burnout, and building a profitable business in uncertain times.

The event will be hosted by Rachel Haith, coach and speaker at Inspired Life Group and co-host of the Renny Show podcast. Rachel is passionate about helping people respond to life’s challenges with confidence and resilience and will guide attendees through the day’s programme.

Workshops and talks will cover a range of timely and relevant topics, including the practical uses of artificial intelligence, the latest information on Local Government Reorganisation, and guidance on navigating new Employment Rights legislation.

Throughout the day, attendees can also network with other local businesses and engage with a range of exhibition stalls showcasing the latest support available across Newark and Sherwood.

Councillor Claire Penny, Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Economic Development at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “I’m pleased to invite businesses from across the district to this year’s Economic Growth Conference. It’s a valuable opportunity for local organisations to come together, share ideas and build connections.

“Supporting our business community is a key priority for the Council, and this conference brings together expert speakers, practical workshops and networking opportunities to help businesses overcome barriers and support growth across Newark and Sherwood.”
