Dust pollution

How to report a dust problem or seek advice on excessive dust emissions.

It is common for dust to be produced during demolition and construction works and by vehicles moving on dry surfaces during the summer months.

Dust from industrial and commercial sites

Industrial and commercial sites may be dusty and have the potential to negatively affect surrounding areas.

Some industrial operators may hold a permit to control emissions to air, including dust.

These processes should not, in normal circumstances, cause a nuisance to residents and other businesses in the area.

Reduce the impact of dust

There are simple solutions to reduce the potential for dust causing a nuisance. These include regular damping down of affected surfaces and equipment, or screening the dusty operations from nearby receptors.
