Fly grazing is the deliberate act of leaving horses on land without the landowner’s permission. It’s a major cause of horse welfare issues as horses are often left without adequate shelter, food and water and can be tethered for hours.
Report fly grazing
If you’ve had horses placed on your land illegally or know of someone else who has, contact us for information and guidance.
If you see a horse on a play area, a sports centre, next to a public building or other such public place, you should contact the owners in the first instance (if known).
Or you can report it to us on. Do not approach the horse until you have spoken to us as it may be distressed and cause you injury.
Horses on the highway
If you spot an unaccompanied horse on the public highway you should contact the police on 999.
