Site security and safety

The safety of residents, visitors and construction workers is our highest priority throughout the regeneration programme.

Through our Resident Charter, Newark and Sherwood District Council, Compendium Living and Lovell have committed to ensuring that construction works are managed safely, securely and with minimal disruption to the community.

Our commitments

We will:

  • Ensure all demolition and construction works are properly planned and carried out safely.
  • Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and industry standards.
  • Use appropriately qualified contractors and subcontractors.
  • Maintain secure site compounds and construction areas.
  • Provide clear signage and safe pedestrian routes around works.
  • Keep residents informed about works that may affect access, parking or local services.

Site security

To protect both the site and the surrounding community, security measures are expected to include:

  • CCTV monitoring of construction compounds.
  • Secure site fencing and hoarding.
  • Out-of-hours monitoring and reporting arrangements.
  • Liaison with the Police where required.
  • Additional security measures during school holidays and high-risk periods if needed.

Reporting concerns

Residents will be provided with dedicated contact details for the regeneration and site teams should they need to report any concerns relating to construction activity, site safety or security. Contact details will be displayed on site hoarding, newsletters and project communications.

Minimising disruption

We recognise that construction activity can cause disruption. Through the Resident Charter, Lovell and NSDC have committed to reducing the impact on residents wherever possible.

This includes:

  • Traffic management plans to control construction vehicles.
  • Careful scheduling of deliveries where possible.
  • Regular road sweeping and cleaning.
  • Prompt removal of mud and debris.
  • Monitoring of dust levels and implementation of dust suppression measures.
  • Maintenance of site fencing and hoarding.
  • Daily checks of footpaths and pedestrian routes.
  • Continued management of vacant properties and estate maintenance throughout the regeneration programme.

Communications and resident engagement

Keeping residents informed and involved throughout construction remains a key priority.

The Yorke Drive Regeneration Project has always been shaped by resident feedback, and this will continue through the Resident Charter.
