If you're having difficulty paying your Council Tax you should contact us as soon as possible so we can help you. Options to consider include applying for Council Tax Support or a discount, changing your payment plan, or getting financial advice.

If you're on a low income, our benefits team can check you are getting all the help available from the council, for example Council Tax Support. Contact us as soon as you realise you're having problems paying your Council Tax.

Change how or when you pay

We may be able to offer an alternative payment date, or extend your payments, to help manage your finances more effectively. You can also request that your payments be made weekly or fortnightly if preferred.

Set up a Direct Debit

You could spread the cost of your Council Tax by setting up a Direct Debit. Direct Debit payments can be set up even if you've had a final notice for non-payment and lost the right to pay by instalments.
