How the budget works
Each year the council plans its spending and income to support its aims, priorities and resources. This includes the setting of Council Tax rates and fees and charges for our services.
The budget is built based on the priorities from within the Community Plan, and is split into two separate funds – the Housing Revenue Account budget (which funds our landlord responsibilities) and the General Fund budget (which funds everything else we deliver).
The strategy for the production for the budget for the forthcoming year can be found in the Council's Annual Budget Strategy 2026/27 (PDF, 790kb)
